Niskayuna Resident Charged After Hit-and-Run Leaves Woman in Critical Condition!

A Niskayuna man is facing charges after police say he struck a woman with his car in Schenectady and fled the scene. The incident occurred early in the morning near the intersection of Union Street and Nott Terrace.

Police responded to reports of a woman lying in the road at approximately 1:18 a.m. When officers arrived, they found a 41-year-old woman who had been seriously injured. Emergency medical personnel treated her on the scene before transporting her to Albany Medical Center. She remains in critical condition.

Authorities determined that the vehicle involved in the crash was a 2024 Tesla registered to a Niskayuna address. Following their investigation, police identified and arrested the driver, 29-year-old Richard I. Gordon.

Gordon has been charged with leaving the scene of an incident, speeding, and a license plate violation. Police noted that he was released following his arrest and is scheduled to appear in court in December.

The hit-and-run has raised concerns about pedestrian safety and the responsibilities of drivers involved in such incidents. Investigators are continuing to review evidence related to the case. Meanwhile, the critically injured woman remains under medical care as authorities keep a close watch on her condition.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of stopping and rendering aid in the event of an accident and the legal consequences for those who fail to do so.
