Shocking Crime: Belmont Stabbing Suspect Arrested 400 Miles Away!

A man accused of stabbing his girlfriend and assaulting another woman in Belmont has been arrested hundreds of miles away in Florida.

Elijah Raheem Lurry, 22, was wanted for attempting to kill his girlfriend during a violent incident in October. Police found him in Jacksonville, Florida, on Monday morning, about 400 miles from where the crimes happened.

According to police reports, on October 13, a woman and her friend came home around 2:30 a.m. to a residence on East Avenue in Belmont.

Shortly after, Lurry entered the house, angry and accusing his girlfriend of not answering his calls while she was out.

The situation escalated quickly. Lurry assaulted both women and stabbed his girlfriend. He then forced them into a room and held them there for hours, police said. Eventually, the women managed to escape and get medical help. By that time, Lurry had fled the scene.

Police charged Lurry with multiple serious crimes, including attempted first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree kidnapping, and assault with a deadly weapon.

He also faces charges for domestic violence, making threats, and violating probation.

After weeks of searching, police tracked Lurry to Jacksonville. Belmont Police worked with local, state, and federal authorities to make the arrest. Lurry will now be sent back to North Carolina to face the charges.

In a social media post, Belmont Police expressed gratitude to their law enforcement partners for helping catch the suspect.

This case highlights the serious consequences of domestic violence and the efforts law enforcement makes to bring justice for victims.
