3 Bay Area Real Estate Agents Sentenced for $55 Million Fraud Scheme!
A 48-year-old man from the North Bay, known for his extensive criminal history, was arrested on Saturday after a bizarre crime spree that included a violent burglary, assault, and an attempted kidnapping at a nursing home. David Jonathan Margoliash, a San Rafael resident, was taken into custody after law enforcement linked him to multiple incidents early that morning.
The first crime occurred at a house on Ross Street around 1:12 a.m., according to the San Rafael Police Department. Margoliash allegedly broke into the home through the back door while the residents were sleeping.
One of the residents, who is pregnant, woke up after hearing noises and discovered Margoliash in the living room. The woman screamed, which caused Margoliash to hit her on the head with a flashlight, police reported.
Her husband woke up to the commotion and tried to force Margoliash out of the house. A struggle ensued, during which Margoliash allegedly bit the husband’s hand. Despite the injury, the husband managed to push Margoliash down the patio stairs, but he was forced to leave the scene. The couple was taken to the hospital for medical treatment of their injuries.
After this incident, Margoliash reportedly attempted another crime just a few hours later. At about 5:18 a.m., he allegedly tried to remove an elderly patient from a nursing home on Fifth Avenue, claiming he was an employee of a transport service who was there to take the person to Santa Rosa.
However, the nursing home staff quickly became suspicious and asked to see his credentials. After realizing Margoliash was lying, they contacted the police.
Margoliash was arrested at the scene, and after his capture, he reportedly made several incriminating statements about his actions during the two incidents. He is now being held at the Marin County Jail without bail, facing serious charges, including burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, and attempted kidnapping.
This arrest comes after Margoliash was involved in a violent attack earlier this year at the Islamic Center of North Marin in Novato. In that incident, he punched and pepper-sprayed a person who had tried to grab his bag. This attack happened on the first day of Ramadan in March. Margoliash is awaiting sentencing for that crime.
