Shocking Times Square Attack: 13-Year-Old and Masked Crew Stab Victim!
A 13-year-old migrant boy, along with three masked accomplices, attacked a man near Times Square on Sunday night after the man refused to take their photo, according to police and sources. The violent incident occurred around 9 p.m. at West 40th Street and Seventh Avenue.
The group approached the 23-year-old victim, asking him to snap their picture. When the man declined, the situation quickly escalated. The teens surrounded him, punching him in the face and stabbing him in the back and leg using a brass-knuckle knife. Authorities stated that the suspects also attempted to steal the man’s cellphone but were unsuccessful.
After the attack, the group fled the scene. However, police were able to track down and arrest the 13-year-old suspect with the help of the victim during a search of the area. The other three suspects, who were wearing all-black clothing and black facemasks at the time of the attack, remain at large.
Investigators revealed that the arrested teenager has a criminal history. Just weeks ago, on October 26, he was arrested in connection to a chain-snatching incident aboard a northbound F train in Brooklyn.
During that robbery, five suspects, including the teen, held down a victim who was sleeping before attempting to steal from him. The victim fought back, but the group managed to overpower him.
This recent arrest highlights a growing concern over juvenile crimes in New York City. NYPD Chief of Crime Control Strategies Michael Lipetri recently noted that juvenile arrests are at an all-time high.
He explained that many juveniles involved in multiple robberies are often processed under Family Court statutes, which he said limits how these cases are handled.
“We are seeing juveniles commit five, six, seven robberies,” Lipetri stated. “Most of them get dealt with under the Family Court statutes.”
The investigation into the Times Square attack continues, with authorities urging anyone with information about the three remaining suspects to come forward.
