Shocking Incident: Intoxicated Driver Hits Police Cars on IH 45!
A man from Texas City, identified as Brian Kennedy II, was arrested on December 4, 2024, following a series of dangerous incidents on South IH 45. The arrest came after Kennedy’s vehicle collided with two parked police patrol cars while officers were investigating a separate crash. Officers on the scene reported that Kennedy appeared intoxicated and attempted to hide narcotics in his possession.
The incident occurred at around 7:11 p.m. as two League City Police Officers were investigating the southbound lanes of the 1100 block of South IH 45. Their patrol vehicles were parked in the far-right lane with emergency lights activated, blocking traffic during the investigation. While standing outside their vehicles, the officers heard the sound of another crash and turned to see Kennedy’s dark sedan striking both of their patrol units.
Kennedy, who was the only person in his car, did not report any injuries from the collision. However, when officers approached him, they noticed signs of intoxication. Additionally, Kennedy was found trying to conceal drugs, which led to his immediate detention for further questioning.

Kennedy now faces multiple charges, including Driving While Intoxicated, for which his bond was set at $1,500. Other charges include Possession of Controlled Substance PG 2 under 1 gram, with a bond of $5,000; two counts of Possession of Controlled Substance PG 3 under 28 grams, each carrying a $5,000 bond; and Tampering with Physical Evidence, which also carried a $5,000 bond.
Fortunately, neither the officers at the scene nor the individuals involved in the original crash sustained any injuries.
