National Grid Volunteers Spread Holiday Cheer to Families at Ronald McDonald House!

National Grid employees recently spread some much-needed holiday cheer to families staying at the Ronald McDonald House, a place that provides support for families with seriously ill children.

The company’s employees decorated their utility trucks and brought cookies and hot chocolate to share with the families.

For Joe Barbuti, an Electric Operations Manager at National Grid, this act of kindness is deeply personal. “It’s important to a lot of us here at National Grid.

We have a lot of close personal ties to Albany Medical Center and the Ronald McDonald House. They’ve helped multiple employees through tough times in the past, and we like to give back in every way we can,” he explained.

The volunteer crews worked together to decorate five utility trucks after their shifts. They added lights and other decorations to spread holiday cheer to families who are spending their holiday season at the Ronald McDonald House.

But the joy didn’t end there. After visiting the Ronald McDonald House, the crews took the lighted trucks to Albany Medical Center, where patients had a chance to see the trucks pass by. This simple gesture was meant to bring a smile to the faces of those who are undergoing treatment during the holiday season.

“I just hope it lightens them up,” Barbuti said. “I just hope they go to bed with a smile on their face tonight because they have more treatment tonight or more treatment tomorrow.

I just hope it’s a break for the families, a break for the patients, and they’re able to have a little bit of Christmas cheer.”

This heartwarming effort shows just how much National Grid cares about its community and is committed to making the holidays brighter for those in need.

Their small but meaningful gesture is a reminder that sometimes, a little bit of holiday cheer can make a big difference in someone’s day.
