Breaking: Albany Man Faces 12 Years in Federal Prison for Drug Crimes!
ALBANY, NY — A 42-year-old man from Albany, Kamaro Campbell, was sentenced to 12 years in federal prison on Wednesday, December 4, 2024.
He appeared before Judge Anne M. Nardacci in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York. Campbell faced charges for drug and firearms offenses.
Campbell had earlier pleaded guilty to three serious charges: possession of cocaine with the intent to sell, possession of fentanyl with the intent to sell, and possessing a firearm while involved in drug trafficking.
As part of the sentencing, Judge Nardacci also ordered Campbell to serve five years of supervised release after completing his prison term. Additionally, he must forfeit the handgun that authorities seized during the investigation.
According to U.S. Attorney Carla B. Freedman, Campbell’s arrest came after federal agents conducted a detailed investigation into his drug distribution activities in the Albany area.
On June 28, 2023, agents executed court-approved search warrants at Campbell’s apartment and a storage unit he was using.
The search at his apartment uncovered 105 grams of fentanyl, 95 grams of cocaine, a loaded handgun hidden in a fanny pack, and $15,000 in cash, believed to be proceeds from drug sales. When agents searched the storage unit, they found another 105 grams of cocaine.
This case highlights law enforcement’s continued efforts to tackle drug trafficking and related crimes in the community.
