Shocking: Teens Charged for Shooting 7-Year-Old Outside Starbucks in Harlem!
In Harlem, two teenagers were charged for shooting a 7-year-old girl outside a Starbucks last month, District Attorney Alvin Bragg announced.
The accused, 17-year-old True Womack and 19-year-old Daniel Idowu are facing serious charges, including attempted murder in the second degree, assault in the first degree, and illegal possession of a weapon, according to Bragg.
Bragg said, “These teenagers, as alleged, opened fire on a crowded sidewalk, injuring an innocent 7-year-old girl. Thankfully, she survived, and the police acted quickly to catch them before more harm was done.”
Court reports say the two were dressed in all-black clothes with their faces covered. They crossed the street from a Starbucks on Bradhurst Avenue, took out their guns, and fired at people. Unfortunately, the young girl, walking past the Starbucks, was hit in her stomach.
The child was rushed to the hospital, where doctors treated injuries to her stomach, liver, and colon through surgery.
After the shooting, Idowu and Womack ran from the scene, heading north on Bradhurst Avenue, through Jackie Robinson Park, and onto Edgecombe Avenue.
Police reached the spot quickly and chased them. During the chase, Idowu tried to jump over a fence into the park and threw his gun into the area. Both teens were arrested soon after.
The police recovered a gun near the fence where Idowu attempted to escape. The next morning, officers searched the park again and found another gun believed to be linked to the crime.
