Major Trafficker Arrested in Brooklyn After $420K, 85lbs of Drugs and 8 Guns Seized!
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A major drug trafficker has been arrested after a thorough investigation led to the seizure of over 85 pounds of cocaine and fentanyl, eight loaded guns, and $420,000 in Brooklyn, officials announced on Tuesday.
George Capella, 45, was arrested on December 4, following an eight-month investigation called “Operation Interstate Powder,” according to authorities.
Capella faces several charges, including being a major trafficker, criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a weapon, and drug-related paraphernalia.
During the investigation, surveillance was set up at Capella’s apartment on Leonard Street in Williamsburg. On December 4, around noon, officers saw him take two large packages of drugs from a black Honda Accord parked near his building.
Later in the day, Capella was seen leaving the apartment and driving away in a Lincoln Aviator with New Jersey plates.
Police stopped Capella’s Lincoln on Meserole Street, detained him, and found seven cell phones in his possession. After getting search warrants, officials searched Capella’s cars and apartment.
In the Honda Accord, authorities found about 33 kilograms of cocaine, more than six kilograms of fentanyl, eight loaded firearms hidden in a secret compartment, and one imitation gun. They also seized around $420,000 in cash.
In the Lincoln Aviator, officers found a scale with drug residue and another cell phone. Inside his apartment, additional drugs and drug packaging tools were recovered, including a kilogram press machine and a scale.
The drugs seized were identified in a DEA lab as 33 kilograms of cocaine, some of which were marked with labels like “MOËT” and “AMIRI,” and over six kilograms of fentanyl, with some packages carrying Louis Vuitton logos.
Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget Brennan expressed shock at the scale of the operation. “The recovery of over 85 pounds of cocaine and fentanyl, along with eight loaded guns and $420,000, in a residential area of Williamsburg is startling, even to experienced investigators,” she said.
“The money, drugs, and paraphernalia recovered show that this was a large-scale drug distribution operation. The work of prosecutors and investigators over these eight months has undoubtedly saved many lives,” she added.
