Police say the bar manager in Santa Monica died after being hit by a customer who had been asked to leave

Authorities confirmed on Thursday that a prominent Santa Monica pub’s manager passed away earlier this week after being attacked by a customer who had been ordered to leave. Later on, an arrest was made of a suspect.

According to a news release from the Santa Monica Police Department, officers were called to the scene at 12:05 a.m. on Tuesday regarding a report of a battery that had happened in the 2700 block of Main Street, next to Jameson’s Pub.

“A fight ensued on the street when the Jameson’s manager asked several patrons to leave,” added the statement. “Out on the street, one of the patrons punched the manager, causing him to lose consciousness.”

Police said that when they arrived at the site, the manager was not breathing. Before firefighter-paramedics from the Santa Monica Fire Department arrived and took over, the policemen administered CPR.

After being taken to a hospital, the injured guy passed away, according to the authorities. His identity wasn’t made public right away.
