A 41-year-old man was arrested in Southern California after brutally beheading both of his parents
Authorities in Orange County announced on Wednesday that graphic facts have surfaced in a violent and gory double homicide that involved the suspect being shot earlier this week at a mobile home park and the killing of a dog.
On July 9, at approximately 7:30 a.m., deputies from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department were called to the 32000 block of Alipaz Street in San Juan Capistrano in response to complaints of a “domestic incident,” according to authorities.
Responding deputies found a “horrific scene” where two elderly victims—now named as 79-year-old Antoinette Gerdvil and her 77-year-old husband, Ronald Gerdvil—had been beheaded along with their dog, according to an OCSD news release.
Deputies learned about a “bloody man” pursuing a maintenance worker from the same San Juan Mobile Estates neighborhood where the gruesome killings took place just minutes after they discovered the pair.
After stealing the golf cart belonging to a maintenance worker, the bleeding suspect, identified as 41-year-old Joseph Gerdvil, who resided in the community with his parents, was soon found next to a bike trail exit on Calle Arroyo. It was there that at least one cop opened fire, striking the 41-year-old.
According to the press statement, “sheriff’s officers assisted the suspect until the Orange County Fire Authority could come and take him to a nearby hospital, where he is presently in stable condition.”
When the 41-year-old is given the all-clear medically, authorities said he will be charged with two counts of homicide. He is now hospitalized. They went on to say that the man will probably be charged with more crimes and have his status upgraded after the inquiry is over.
Investigators have not yet offered a reason for the killings.
