Florida’s most dangerous road is U.S. 19 in Pinellas and Pasco counties, according to a study
According to a recent study, U.S. 19, which runs through Pinellas and Pasco counties, is the state’s deadliest stretch of road, with thousands of collisions annually. Since 2020, there have been more than 150 deaths in the counties of Pasco and Pinellas.
“There have always been certain difficulties with U.S. 19 since there are essentially two kinds of traffic that use that route. According to Kris Carson of the FDOT, “you have your more local traffic that is trying to get to the businesses, and then you have your fast-moving vehicles that are just trying to get from point A to point B very quickly.”

Our law enforcement allies told us last week that many of our injuries and fatalities would decrease if everyone wore seatbelts, of course, abstained from driving after using drugs or alcohol, and paid attention.”
A data analyst from Consumer Affairs, the publication of this new report, was interviewed by FOX 13. He discovered that the pandemic worsened driver fatalities.
“People were speeding more and, more often than not, were more preoccupied when driving during this period when the roads were less crowded. According to Dieter Holger of Consumer Affairs, “We saw a lot of those very irresponsible behaviors take hold during the pandemic, and a lot of them have unfortunately continued.”
FDOT is concentrating on U.S. 19 with a $240 million project.
In essence, we’re expanding our capability. Our goal is to lessen traffic congestion. By constructing a special underpass between Evans Road and Republic Drive, we’re even assisting the local pedestrian population,” Carson added. “You see building interchanges as such in smaller-scale development projects as well as larger ones. Do more crosswalks or lights need to be installed in a certain area?”
It is anticipated that the U.S. 19 redesign project will not be finished until 2029.
