Texas Man Pleads Guilty to BRUTALLY KILLING WIFE, Sentenced to 40 Years in Prison

A Texas man was taken into custody to 40 years in prison for the brutal murder of his wife in 2023, following his guilty plea.

Sean G. Whittmore, the Waller County Criminal District Attorney, announced on Wednesday, July 31, that Jared James Dicus had entered into a plea agreement for the murder of his wife, Anggy Diaz.

After only three months of marriage, Diaz’s in-laws discovered the 21-year-old’s dismembered corpse in their residence, which was purportedly owned by the in-laws.

During a news briefing at the time, Waller County Sheriff Troy Guidry stated that it was Discus’ father who “immediately called” the police upon observing Diaz’s body. During an interrogation with the police, Discus purportedly admitted to killing her.

Whittmore announced in a press release that Dicus will serve his 40-year sentence in the Institutional Division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Concerns regarding Dicus’ mental capacity were expressed during the pre-trial phase of the case. Nevertheless, a court-ordered examination had determined that he was competent to stand trial.

According to the release, Dicus forfeited his right to appeal the verdict, the sentence, and any potential defense to prosecution, including the possibility of utilizing an insanity defense at a later date, as a result of the terms of his plea agreement.

The parameters of the plea agreement were communicated to Diaz’s family before its completion.

In 2043, Dicus will be eligible for parole. Nevertheless, the district attorney emphasizes that “paternity eligibility does not guarantee parole approval.”

Guidry stated that police had previously been dispatched to the domicile of the former couple at the time of Diaz’s death; however, the level of violence and the severity of the situation were “unprecedented.”

The sheriff also stated that the crime would have a lasting impact on both families.

“That is the most accurate assessment of the world in which we currently reside.” It is a macabre sight. Guidry stated, “And both sides of these families will be impacted by it, whether it is the suspect or the victim.”

“It is macabre.” This is a horrific offense. “He continued, “I hope that everything will turn out in the best possible manner at this time.”

Diaz’s decapitation was the subject of numerous reports.

Guidry stated in a press conference last year that officers were confronted with “a dismembered body portion and a blood-stained residence.”

The district attorney declared on Wednesday that “Waller County does not tolerate domestic violence.”

“We will not allow heinous crimes such as this one to go unpunished; we will pursue justice for the victims of domestic violence and send a message to the perpetrators that we will fight for our victims,” Whittmore stated on Wednesday.

“The DA’s office also expresses gratitude to the Waller County Sheriff’s Office for their comprehensive investigation and their dedication to the victim’s family and the residents of Waller County.”
