Pittsburgh MAN SUSPECTED OF SHOOTING STEPFATHER Day After Physical Altercation, Police Say

A Pennsylvania man is suspected of shooting his stepfather in the doorway of his home the day after the two men got into a physical altercation, according to authorities.

Rasheed Horne, 21, of Pittsburgh, turned himself into authorities on August 4, according to an Allegheny County Authorities Department news release.

He is accused of criminal homicide, according to court records. Horne’s attorney information was not available in court records. Officers went to reports of a gunshot around 12:30 p.m. on August 3 and discovered a man “shot in the doorway” of his Mount Oliver house, according to police.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Dana Burks, 49 years old.

Burks is identified as Horne’s stepfather in court record. According to a criminal complaint, police rushed to Burks’ residence on Aug. 2 after receiving allegations of a domestic dispute and discovered Burks and Horne had gotten into a physical fight, which led Horne to the hospital, WPXI reported. According to reports, the argument was not over anything specific.

According to TribLive, a doorbell video showed Horne approaching Burks and ordering him not to touch her. Officials informed the newspaper that the tape also showed the stepson fire six shots before leaving.

Horne was arrested at the Allegheny County Jail and denied bail, according to court documents.

Mount Oliver is approximately a 3-mile drive south of Pittsburgh.
