Mom of Murdered Teen Confronts Woman Who Lured Son to His Death With Deceptive Tactics
Dahlia Mack, a grieving mother, lashed out at the lady who lured her teenage son to his death in a Houston courtroom on August 6.
“I dislike you. Look at me! You dislike me. In a victim impact statement in court, Dahlia informed her son’s killer, Keona Samireal Mouton, that “you should have been flushed rather than birthed.” “Don’t cry. “Those shackles on your ankles are Delindsey Mack,” cried the bereaved mother, while the rest of the Mack family kept their heads down, overcome with sorrow.
Her son, Delindsey, was a high school senior who enjoyed playing football and had recently relocated to a new school to avoid gang activities when he met a classmate, Keona Mouton, 16, and developed feelings for her. Mouton persuaded Delindsey, nicknamed “Baby Huey” by family friends due to his “soft” personality, to meet her after school on November 13, 2018. Instead, Mouton led him into a horrific ambush in which he was killed seven times by two men.
Delindsey’s grandmother told reporters that he was killed barely one month before high school graduation.
Mouton, now 22, was convicted as an adult and sentenced to 23 years in prison. She was one of three criminals convicted thus far, and Delindsey’s family has witnessed all three murder trials and convictions, according to KHOU 11. One shooter, who has not been named, remains at large.
“This was not just an ambush, but an execution planned and carried out by several people, and we want to hold everyone accountable to bring justice to the victim and his family,” Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg said in a news statement on August 7.
Kendrick Johnson, a known gang member, was the first to stand trial and received a life sentence in 2021 for his role in Mack’s murder. He had already been linked to six other murders, and according to Ogg, “He seemed to be striving for celebrity status in the gang world by killing as many people as possible,” ABC 13 said.
In 2023, Dave’on Thomas, whom Ogg identified as the getaway driver, was sentenced to 50 years in jail for the fatal shot.
Prosecutors claim Delindsey created a gangster persona on social media that was different from the truth in real life. He was slain only steps from his high school, and authorities say his social media posts led to him being targeted and caught in the crossfire of two rival Houston gangs.
“Anyone who knows or knows Delindsey would recognize him as a great talker, but he was not a mobster. … Delindsey had an alternate ego in which he presented himself as somebody he was not,” said his pastor, D.Z. Cofield, at the time of his death in a press conference.
Delindsey’s parents maintained strict curfews and were characterized as always “supporting their child,” although they were unaware of his social media presence until after the shooting.
Prosecutors presented deleted incriminating text messages from Mouton as evidence of her plan to fake a connection with Delindsey and lure him to his death.
“Delindsey Mack’s parents placed him in the one place where children should be safe, but Keona Mouton pulled all the strings to ensure his murder,” Assistant District Attorney Sarah Seely stated.
Mouton was tried as an adult and will be eligible for parole after completing at least half of her 23-year sentence.
