Second Albany Resident Arrested for Role in French Bulldog Theft as Investigation Deepens!

A second arrest has been made in connection with the theft of two French bulldogs from a front porch in Albany. The incident took place on Sunday, August 4, 2024, when the two dogs were stolen from a residence on Myrtle Avenue.

On the morning of Monday, August 5, 2024, at around 9:40 a.m., Albany police officers responded to a report of the missing dogs. During their investigation, members of the Traffic Safety Unit discovered that Shalon Jones, a 46-year-old Albany resident, was in possession of one of the stolen 1-year-old French bulldogs on the night the theft occurred.

As a result of the investigation, Jones has been charged with one count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th degree and one count of Hindering Prosecution in the 3rd degree. She was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court and subsequently remanded to the Albany County Jail.

Jones is the second individual to be arrested in connection with this case. Earlier, on August 7, 2024, 29-year-old Destiny Winslow, also from Albany, was arrested after she was found with one of the missing French bulldogs.

The theft investigation is still ongoing. Authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward and contact the Animal Control Unit at (518) 472-7107.
