Governor Hochul Announces State of High Alert Following Terror Plot Against Jews!

New York is on high alert after federal authorities thwarted a major terror plot against the Jewish community. A 20-year-old Pakistani national, Mohamed Shahzeb Kahn, has been arrested on charges of planning a massive attack aimed at killing as many Jews as possible.

Governor Kathy Hochul announced on Sunday that New York is under a “heightened state of awareness” and has been in direct contact with the Federal Terrorism Task Force. She described the plot as “deeply shocking,” but reassured the public that officials have been vigilant in monitoring online and social media activity.

Kahn, inspired by ISIL, was arrested as he attempted to enter the U.S. from Canada. According to a 19-count indictment, his target was the Brooklyn Jewish Center in Crown Heights, often identified as the Chabad Lubavitch World Headquarters.

Kahn had been spreading ISIL propaganda online and recruiting individuals to join his cause. However, two of his recruits were undercover law enforcement agents.

The suspect aimed to attack around October 7, coinciding with the observance of the recent Hamas attack on Israel. This date is less than a month away, and in response, several hundred people gathered for their weekly vigil in Central Park, holding photos of hostages and chanting for their release.

Kahn considered New York an ideal target due to its large Jewish population. Hochul confirmed that state police are working closely with the Federal Terrorism Task Force and NYPD to enhance security measures. She assured the public that efforts are being made to keep the Jewish community safe.

The indictment reveals that Kahn had boasted that his planned attack would be the largest on U.S. soil since 9/11. The suspect remains in custody in Canada, with extradition proceedings set to bring him back to the U.S. later this week.
