Shocking Confession: Woman from Schenectady Involved in Trooper Shooting

Shocking Confession: Woman from Schenectady Involved in Trooper Shooting!

A Schenectady woman, Alicia Eriole, 31, has pleaded guilty to her role in the 2023 shooting of New York State trooper Richard Albert.

The Schenectady County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that Eriole admitted to second-degree criminal facilitation.

This admission comes after a detailed investigation following the June 16, 2023, incident on I-88 near Duanesburg.

On that day, Eriole was driving the vehicle during a routine traffic stop when her then-boyfriend, Nelson Troche, opened fire on Trooper Albert.

The investigation revealed that Eriole helped Troche by rolling down the driver’s side window and reclining her seat, allowing Troche to shoot the trooper.

Troche’s actions sparked a dangerous chase that involved multiple car crashes, eventually leading to his death and Eriole’s arrest.

Eriole was initially charged with robbery and weapons possession, alongside the criminal facilitation charge.

However, as part of the plea deal, she admitted to facilitating the shooting but maintained that she did not possess a weapon or plan the incident. Her trial, originally set for September 30, was avoided through this guilty plea.

District Attorney Robert Carney emphasized that while Eriole was unarmed, she actively assisted her boyfriend in the shooting.

Carney noted, “Ms. Eriole was not armed, and there is no proof that she helped plan the shooting, but at every step of the way, she helped her boyfriend.”

He praised Trooper Albert’s bravery, stating, “Throughout this terrifying encounter, Trooper Albert acted with courage, resilience, and professionalism. We are all fortunate that he is alive and well today.”
