Caught on Camera: Masked Gunman Steals $30,000 and Important Documents in Paterson Robbery!

Surveillance footage shows a shocking armed robbery that took place at Paradise Halal Meat in Paterson, New Jersey, on Saturday.

News 12 New Jersey obtained the footage, which captures a masked gunman threatening the store owner in the back office of the market.

In the video, the gunman, with his face concealed, can be seen pointing a gun at the store owner, Abdelgawad Elsayed. The gunman can be heard demanding, “Hurry up, give me everything. Put everything in the bag.” Fearing for his life, Elsayed quickly complied, handing over $30,000 in cash from a drawer in his office.

Mohammed Elsayed, the owner’s son, spoke to News 12 and described the emotional toll the incident has taken on his father.

He said the terrifying experience deeply shook his father. “He’s terrified. He hasn’t been coming to the store since that happened. It’s difficult to have someone point a gun at you,” Mohammed Elsayed shared.

The market, which is also a butcher shop, is located on East Railway Avenue, along a stretch filled with other halal markets.

The stolen money, Mohammed explained, was critical for the family business as it was intended to buy meat for the upcoming week. “We buy every week between $30,000 and $40,000 worth of meat from the auction,” he added.

The robbery not only disrupted their daily operations but also caused financial strain, as the family now faces challenges securing the necessary meat for their business.

The elder Elsayed, though still rattled by the incident, returned to the store on Friday and shared with News 12 that he may have a clue as to who the masked robber might be.

In the video, the gunman can be seen holding up his phone and saying, “Give me the paper.”

The family explained that this “paper” referred to important documents, including passports and Social Security numbers, which Elsayed handed over to the gunman in fear.

Adding to the mystery, Elsayed noticed a photo of a woman he recognized on the robber’s phone, raising questions about whether the suspect had a personal connection to the family.

The Paterson Police Department has confirmed that they are actively investigating the robbery.

While they have yet to arrest in the Paradise Halal Meat case, the police recently apprehended a suspect connected to a separate armed robbery that occurred at Yadiel Barbershop last week.

In that incident, four armed men stormed the barbershop, robbing the owner and several customers of their cash and jewelry. The suspects fled the scene in a silver Nissan Murano.

Paterson’s Officer in Charge, Issa Abbasi, posted on social media, “I am immensely proud of the work of our officers and investigators to bring in one person connected to this robbery quickly. Others are in custody.”

The Paterson community remains on edge as police continue their investigations into these alarming incidents.
