Shocking Incident: Husband Brings Knife to NJ School and Attacks Teacher!

According to the district’s official report, a troubling incident unfolded at School 18 in Paterson, New Jersey, last Thursday afternoon.

An unidentified man, described as the husband of a teacher at the school, entered the building carrying a knife.

The man checked in with the school security at the entrance but was not stopped, even though he had the weapon on him.

It is important to note that many of the elementary schools in Paterson, including School 18, do not have metal detectors installed, which may have contributed to the security oversight.

The man then confronted one of his spouse’s male coworkers, reportedly punching the teacher in the face before pulling out the knife and threatening him, as reported by the Paterson Press.

The incident took place approximately 90 minutes after school dismissal, around 4:45 p.m., ensuring that no students were present at the time.

School officials expressed their concern over the incident, emphasizing that the safety of their staff and students is their highest priority.

Superintendent Laurie Newell commented on the matter, stating, “The safety of our staff and students remains our top priority.

We will continue to provide necessary support to those affected and appreciate the community’s understanding during this time.”

Dalton Price, the Head of Security, also weighed in on the situation. He noted that while it was fortunate that the incident did not escalate further, such situations should never happen within the school environment.

He further stated, “We will remind our security personnel of the importance of following established protocols to ensure the safety of our students and staff.”
