Breaking News: Two More Arrests in Shocking Attack on Former NY Gov. David Paterson!
Two more people have been arrested in connection with the attack on former New York Governor David Paterson. The incident happened while Paterson was out walking his dog on a Friday night.
The New York Police Department (NYPD) confirmed that the two new suspects are 40-year-old Travor Nurse and 34-year-old Diamond Minter. They have joined two minors who were already taken into custody.
Travor Nurse was seen leaving the 23rd Precinct, maintaining his claim of innocence. Meanwhile, Diamond Minter chose to stay silent as he was led away.
Both of them are now accused of being involved in the attack that took place around 8:30 p.m. on October 4, near 1871 Second Ave. in East Harlem, where David Paterson lives.
According to police, the incident started as a verbal argument. There were two victims involved—70-year-old David Paterson and his 20-year-old stepson.
The argument quickly escalated into violence when a group of five people attacked them. Both Paterson and his stepson were injured and later treated for minor injuries at Weill Cornell Medical Center.
The two minors, aged 12 and 13, were arrested soon after the incident. One of the minors is facing a second-degree gang assault charge, while the other is charged with third-degree gang assault. These charges are based on their level of involvement in the attack.
Now, Nurse has been charged with two counts of gang assault and second-degree assault for allegedly attacking someone who is 65 years or older.
Minter faces one count of gang assault for allegedly attacking Paterson’s 20-year-old stepson.
In legal terms, “gang assault” means that at least three people took part in the attack. This doesn’t mean that the attackers were part of an organized criminal gang, but the involvement of multiple people makes the crime more severe.
Police are still investigating the incident to determine all the details of what led to the confrontation and the exact roles of those involved.
David Paterson, a former governor known for his leadership and service, has not publicly commented on the attack. The focus remains on ensuring that all the attackers are held accountable for their actions.
This incident has raised concerns about safety in the neighborhood, as many residents are shocked that such an attack could happen in their community.
