Controversial “Vote for Trump” Sign in Amsterdam Leads to Heated Legal Showdown!
Political signs have always stirred up debate, but one in Amsterdam, New York, is causing an even bigger buzz.
Sticker Mule CEO Anthony Constantino is making his political stance clear in a dramatic way, and the city’s leaders aren’t too happy about it. They’ve even started a legal battle to have the sign taken down.
“Our mayor served me with a restraining order demanding I take down the beautiful sign that’s up there.
Believe it or not, he threatened to throw me in jail,” said Anthony Constantino, the CEO of Sticker Mule.
Despite the pushback, a judge lifted a temporary restraining order on Monday, allowing Constantino to unveil a massive 100-foot sign urging people to “Vote for Trump.”
Constantino shared his concerns about the possible consequences, saying, “30 minutes before the event, I was concerned if I lit it, I was going to end up in jail for God knows how long.
I think it’s a very important sign. I think it’s a historically significant sign, and I think it’s going to bring a lot of good to the community. Whether you’re a Democrat or Republican, you know, it’s going to bring good for the community.”
The City of Amsterdam argues that the illuminated sign is breaking several city codes.
These codes include rules about the size of signs, their placement on rooftops, and restrictions on advertising products or services that aren’t available on-site.
Specifically, the city pointed out violations of Amsterdam City Code 250-40(A)(10), which states that no sign should be taller than the height limit for its district nor be placed on a building’s roof.
Additionally, the code says that temporary signs, like political posters, should only be up for 30 days and shouldn’t exceed 30 square feet per side.
Despite these claims, the legal battle is far from over. Lawyers representing the city have until October 18th to submit new filings.
Meanwhile, people from the Capital Region gathered to show their support for Constantino and his controversial sign. Many residents felt that this rally was their chance to voice their opinions and show their backing for Trump without having to travel too far from home.
“For us, it’s the closest rally we will be able to attend. We can’t go to Pennsylvania, and we can’t go far away. So, this was a nice opportunity to be able just to come to support a fantastic candidate and let our voices be known,” said Sue Ann Dubois, a resident of Guilderland.
Families even brought their children to the event. Eleanor Dodge, a mother who attended with her kids, said she wanted her children to see the importance of freedom and support for a candidate she believes in.
“I brought my two young children to show them that freedom is what they deserve, and Donald Trump is doing what he should be doing. He’s helping the American people,” she said.
The next steps in this legal case are still uncertain, but Constantino remains optimistic. He believes that his sign will be a fixture in the community and a significant landmark.

“I think this sign is going to be a landmark. It’s going to be an exciting sign for everyone. It’s going to be one of those signs like the Las Vegas sign or the Hollywood sign, and people are going to want to come and see it forever,” said Constantino.
