MTA Bus Driver Luis Jimenez Transforms into WNBA Dancer at New York Liberty’s Finals Game!
Luis Jimenez, a dedicated MTA bus driver, is not just known for his work on the streets of New York City. He’s also an active member of the Timeless Torches, a dance troupe that performs for the New York Liberty basketball team.
Recently, he stepped into the spotlight during the WNBA Finals, performing at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on October 13. Dressed in a black Torches jersey and track pants, Jimenez energized the crowd and showed off his dance moves.
Jimenez, who is 60 years old, has been dancing with the Timeless Torches for over a decade. For him, dancing is more than just a hobby; it’s a way to keep himself fit and energetic.
He calls it his “fountain of youth” because it helps him stay active and flexible, something he finds valuable for his main job as a bus driver.
“It keeps your energy, everything you have to bring,” Jimenez explained. He also loves the opportunity to bring joy and excitement to the audience while staying engaged with his passion for dance.
But Jimenez’s story doesn’t end on the dance floor. Just last month, while on his regular bus route in Upper Manhattan, he noticed a young girl, only five years old, wandering alone. Concerned for her safety, Jimenez quickly decided to help.
He first asked one of his passengers to call the authorities, then took the girl onto his bus to make sure she was safe. His instincts as a father kicked in, and he knew he had to step in.
“If I see a kid in the street in need of help, I will want somebody to help one of my children or one of my grandkids,” he told ABC7.
Jimenez and the passengers waited until the police arrived. It was later discovered that the girl had gone missing from her school, located about ten blocks away from where he found her. Thanks to his quick actions, the child was safely reunited with her family.
Balancing his life as a bus driver and a dancer, Jimenez continues to be a true inspiration.
