Three Teens Charged in Shocking Manhattan Murder of 46-Year-Old Man!
Three teens have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a 46-year-old man in Washington Heights, New York City. The incident took place earlier this month, sending shockwaves through the community.
The victim, identified as Vernard Florida, lived at 601 West 160th Street, close to where the shooting occurred. The tragedy unfolded just after midnight on October 2 at the intersection of West 160th Street and Amsterdam Avenue.
According to police reports, a 911 call was made around 12:05 a.m., alerting authorities to the shooting. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Floranda suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest.
EMS quickly transported him to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem. Unfortunately, despite medical efforts, Florida was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
In addition to Florida, there was a second victim in the incident. A 25-year-old man, whose name has not been released, was shot in the left ankle.
He was taken privately to New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center, where he is currently listed in stable condition.
Following an intensive investigation, police arrested three suspects on October 16.
The arrested individuals include a 17-year-old male, whose identity has been withheld due to his age, Jason Texeira, 18, of the Bronx, and Jeremiah Bascombe, 19, also from the Bronx.
Each of the suspects faces serious charges, including two counts of second-degree murder, second-degree assault, and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
As of now, authorities are still working to uncover the exact motive behind the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing, and police have yet to release any further information on what led to the violence.
While the charges against the suspects are severe, the community continues to await more details on what caused this senseless act of violence.
The tragic death of Vernard Florida has left many in the neighborhood in mourning, and the arrest of these three young men has only added to the sadness of the situation.
