Violence Strikes Guilderland Music Festival: Police Investigate Shooting and Stabbing!

Guilderland Police are looking into two serious incidents that took place at a music festival early Sunday morning. The incident, a stabbing followed by a shooting, happened while police were already at the scene.

Authorities were first called to 5777 Depot Road around 1:49 a.m. after receiving a report about a stabbing.

When police arrived, they found a 23-year-old man from Rome, New York, who had been stabbed in the head. Emergency medical services (EMS) treated the man at the scene before taking him to a nearby hospital for more care.

Just minutes later, at about 2:06 a.m., while police were still on the scene investigating the stabbing, they heard what sounded like gunshots nearby.

After looking into the situation, police discovered that a second victim, a 21-year-old man from Brooklyn, had been shot in the shoulder. Like the first victim, he was treated at the scene by emergency personnel and then taken to the hospital for further treatment.

According to Public Information Officer Kristopher Scarano, “Because of the size of the crowd and the seriousness of these incidents, we requested help from other agencies.”

Scarano also mentioned that the event was quickly shut down, and the police are continuing their investigation.

Police have confirmed that these incidents appear to be isolated and linked only to the event, so there is no ongoing threat to the larger community.
