Super 8 Tragedy: Bound Victim Found Executed in CT Motel Room!
A man found dead in a Stamford, Connecticut motel was bound and executed, according to authorities. The victim, identified as 59-year-old Angel Samaniego, was discovered on October 14 at a Super 8 Motel.
Police reported that Samaniego had been tied up with duct tape and robbed of several belongings.
Two suspects were arrested just two days later in connection with the case. Moises Alejandro Candollo-Urbaneja, 22, and Gregory Marlyn Galindez-Trias, 24, were taken into custody in Rensselaer, New York.
The suspects were identified after they allegedly used Samaniego’s stolen credit card at an Amtrak station, as reported by News 12 Connecticut.
During the investigation, detectives uncovered a key piece of evidence linking the suspects to the crime.
Authorities reported that Candollo-Urbaneja and Galindez-Trias were in possession of a blood-stained piece of paper containing Samaniego’s credit card number.
Surveillance footage also captured the two suspects leaving the Super 8 Motel on the night of October 13, the Stamford Advocate reported.
Samaniego’s vehicle was traced to Detroit, Michigan, where police encountered a man driving the car.
The driver, however, was not involved in the killing and stated that he had purchased the vehicle from Candollo-Urbaneja and Galindez-Trias. This connection further tied the suspects to the case, as the man identified them as the sellers.
As of now, Candollo-Urbaneja and Galindez-Trias face multiple charges of robbery and theft, but they have not been formally charged with murder. However, Stamford police indicated that additional charges could be brought against the pair as the investigation progresses.
At a hearing on Monday, Judge Kevin Randolph increased the suspects’ bail from $2 million to $5 million each. The judge referred to the incident as an “execution.”
The suspects were also described by authorities in Rensselaer as members of Venezuela’s Tren de Aragua gang.
Galindez-Trias allegedly referenced the gang during her court arraignment, though Stamford police have not confirmed if the murder was gang-related.
