Shocking: 5 Buffalo Residents Arrested for Kidnapping and Torture Case!
Five individuals from Buffalo have been indicted in connection with a violent kidnapping and torture that took place on October 2.
The Erie County District Attorney’s Office announced that Daquel L. Braxton, 25, Savannah R. Brosius, 20, Dontavia N. McMorris, 21, Jeremiah I. Martin, 26, and Raymone A. Wilson, 20, all residents of Buffalo, have been charged with several felonies, including kidnapping, assault, and robbery.
The charges against the defendants include one felony count of kidnapping, two violent felony counts of assault, and two violent felony counts of robbery.
If convicted of the most serious charges, they could face up to 25 years to life in prison.
All five defendants are being held without bail, with Braxton, Martin, and Wilson held on $80,000 bail, and Brosius and McMorris on $50,000 bail.
The incident began when the defendants allegedly kidnapped a 21-year-old victim, who they knew, with the intent of extorting ransom money from a third party.
According to authorities, the victim was forcibly taken to an apartment on the 500 block of Virginia Street in Buffalo, where they were tortured for several hours.
During the ordeal, the victim was tied to a chair, beaten, and subjected to various forms of abuse, including having boiling water poured on them, being hit with a belt, and having their head shaved and bleached.
The attackers also robbed the victim of personal belongings, including a cell phone, wallet, debit card, and backpack.
The Buffalo Police Department launched an investigation after the victim’s relative received a ransom demand and contacted authorities.
The police were able to locate the victim later that evening, and they were taken to ECMC hospital to receive treatment for severe injuries, including burns, bruises, and lacerations.
Buffalo Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia noted that detectives worked diligently on the case, leading to four arrests within days of the incident.
In addition to the kidnapping and assault charges, Raymone A. Wilson is also facing an additional charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance, as he was allegedly found in possession of crack cocaine.
The defendants are scheduled to return to court for pre-trial conferences in late October and early November.
Temporary orders of protection have been issued for the victim and their family members. The case remains under investigation as authorities seek justice for the victim.
