Colonie Police Capture Alleged Trustco Bank Robber With Help from K-9 Officer!
The Colonie Police Department has identified and arrested a young man suspected of robbing a Trustco Bank in Latham, New York, on Wednesday. The arrest was made possible with assistance from a K-9 officer named Eddie, who tracked down the suspect.
According to police, the suspect, 18-year-old Christian Aquino of Saratoga, entered the bank wearing a mask and allegedly pointed a gun at a teller, demanding cash. After taking the money, Aquino reportedly fled on foot from the scene.
Officers and K-9 Eddie searched the surrounding area and successfully located Aquino in a nearby wooded section, where he was found with the stolen money.
Aquino now faces several serious charges, including first-degree robbery and second-degree grand larceny, both felony charges. Additionally, he is charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, which is a misdemeanor.
Following his arrest, Aquino was brought to Colonie Town Court, where he was arraigned and then held at the Albany County Correctional Facility. He is awaiting a preliminary hearing as the investigation continues.
