Tragic Accident: Pedestrian Killed in Crash Near Durango and Blue Diamond!
A pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle Sunday night in the southwest Las Vegas area, marking the 130th traffic-related fatality in Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) jurisdiction this year.
The collision occurred around 8:07 p.m. on Durango Drive, just south of Blue Diamond Road.
According to an official statement from LVMPD, a 2012 Toyota Corolla was traveling south on Durango when it struck a 28-year-old man who was crossing the road outside of a marked crosswalk.
Emergency responders transported the pedestrian to University Medical Center (UMC), where he later succumbed to his injuries. His identity has not been disclosed as authorities continue to notify his family.
The driver of the Toyota remained at the scene following the incident and cooperated with the police. LVMPD confirmed that the driver showed no signs of impairment at the time of the crash.
However, the incident remains under active investigation to determine any additional contributing factors.
This fatality adds to a concerning trend of pedestrian deaths in the Las Vegas area, raising ongoing concerns about pedestrian safety and road conditions in high-traffic areas.
