Albany Police arrested a 15-year-old male on Monday afternoon for possessing a loaded AR-style firearm, following reports of suspicious behavior in the city’s South End.

According to police, officers were dispatched to the 100 block of South Pearl Street, near South Ferry Street, around 12:35 p.m. after receiving reports of someone brandishing a gun from a window.

Police stated that they were able to communicate with the individual and managed to call him out of the residence without further incident. Following his exit, the 15-year-old was taken into custody without resistance.

The teenager now faces charges of second-degree and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Authorities confirmed that he was subsequently released to a parental guardian and is scheduled to appear in Albany City Family Court on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident underscores ongoing concerns over youth access to firearms and emphasizes the importance of community vigilance in reporting potentially dangerous situations.
