Shocking Theft: Paterson Woman Steals Nearly $140,000 from Local Pharmacy!
Leticia Lopez-Fernandez, a 32-year-old resident of Paterson, was arrested on Monday after an investigation by the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Financial Crimes Unit.
Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer in Charge Isa Abbassi announced this.
Lopez-Fernandez is charged with second-degree theft, accused of stealing approximately $139,947 while working at CityRx Pharmacy in Paterson.
The investigation began when the Prosecutor’s Office received a report on September 17, 2021, claiming that Lopez-Fernandez had misused funds through several money orders during her time at the pharmacy.
As the investigation continued, it became clear that the funds had been taken over some time, resulting in a large loss for CityRx Pharmacy.
If found guilty, Lopez-Fernandez could face a sentence of five to ten years in New Jersey State Prison for the second-degree theft charge.
After her arrest, she was processed without any issues and is set to be released on pre-trial monitoring following a hearing at the Central Judicial Processing Court.
