DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — On Tuesday morning, a deadly crash shut down several lanes of the northbound 110 Freeway in downtown Los Angeles, leading to significant delays for morning drivers.

The crash occurred around 5 a.m. near 3rd Street. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the incident began when a car stalled and lost power in the middle of the freeway. With no lights, the vehicle was struck by other cars, causing a severe accident that led to one fatality.

AIR7, a news helicopter, captured images of the scene, revealing the extent of the traffic jam that quickly built up as drivers were diverted and slowed by the lane closures.

After investigating and clearing the scene, CHP reopened all northbound lanes just before 7:30 a.m., allowing traffic to flow again. Commuters are now able to travel on the freeway without delays, but the accident has raised concerns about stalled vehicles causing similar risks during peak traffic hours.
