San Mateo was the center of a dramatic police response last Friday afternoon after officers were called to a disturbance involving a violent rampage.

At around 3:31 p.m., San Mateo Police Department officers arrived at an apartment on the 100 block of 36th Avenue after reports of a man aggressively destroying the residence while under the influence of alcohol.

The suspect, identified as 38-year-old Marvin Davila Ramos, a resident of San Mateo, was found engaging in destructive behavior.

Witnesses reported that Ramos had made verbal slurs, attacked his roommate, and caused significant property damage.

The situation took a dangerous turn when one resident had to barricade herself for safety, while another managed to evacuate the apartment before the situation escalated further.

According to the source, When officers arrived, they observed Ramos violently damaging property, including throwing a television and a fish tank out of the apartment’s windows.

These actions caused an estimated $3,890 in damages to the apartment complex and over $500 in damages within the unit.

Ramos’ aggressive behavior posed a significant threat to the safety of those nearby, requiring swift police intervention.

To de-escalate the situation, officers used a 40mm less-lethal projectile to subdue Ramos, as he continued to resist arrest.

Once restrained, he was transported to a nearby hospital for a medical evaluation before being taken to the San Mateo County Jail.

Ramos now faces multiple charges, including felony vandalism, obstruction of a police officer, violation of civil rights, and battery.

This incident highlights the severity of the damages caused and the safety risks posed by such behavior.

Police acted promptly to protect residents and prevent further harm, ensuring the situation was brought under control with minimal injuries.
