California Governor Gavin Newsom has made headlines again, this time for purchasing a stunning six-bedroom mansion in Marin County. Located on Woodland Road in Kentfield, about 20 miles north of San Francisco, the property was bought for $9.1 million.
Official records show the home was purchased last week through a limited liability company tied to Newsom and his family, as first reported by the San Francisco Chronicle.
The 5,609-square-foot home boasts modern elegance with floor-to-ceiling windows, LaCantina folding glass doors, and a chef’s kitchen that would delight any culinary enthusiast.
The listing describes the property as offering “extraordinary luxury” inside, while the outside features a “resort-like” setup with a swimming pool, spa, and breathtaking views of Mount Tamalpais.
This luxurious purchase appears to have been a bargain for the governor. Initially listed for $9.5 million in September, the price was reduced by $1 million just last month before Newsom sealed the deal.
While his office hasn’t officially confirmed the purchase, a spokesperson mentioned that the family is continuing to split their time between Sacramento and Marin counties to ensure consistency in their children’s education.
This news aligns with earlier reports from June, which revealed that Newsom and his wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, planned to enroll their four children in Marin County schools for the current academic year.
The governor, a native San Franciscan who spent much of his childhood in Marin County, seems to be returning to his roots.
This isn’t the first time Newsom has owned property in the affluent Kentfield area. He previously sold another home in the same town in May 2021.
As governor, Newsom still maintains a residence in Fair Oaks near Sacramento, reflecting his dual commitments to family and his responsibilities in the state capital.
With his gubernatorial term running through 2027 and increasing speculation about a potential presidential bid in 2028, the move to a luxurious home adds another layer of intrigue to his already high-profile life.
