Shocking Threat: NY Senator Cordell Cleare’s Office Faces Bomb Scare!
A man was arrested on Monday morning after allegedly making a series of threats inside a state senator’s Harlem office.
According to police and law enforcement sources, the suspect walked into Senator Cordell Cleare’s office in the Adam Clayton Powell State Office Building and declared, “I’m gonna blow this place up.”
The individual, identified as Vadim Dergachev, was taken into custody shortly after the incident. Law enforcement officials confirmed that he has been charged with making terroristic threats, third-degree menacing, threat of mass harm, and second-degree harassment.
Authorities shared these details following the arrest, but the senator’s office has not yet issued an official comment.
Senator Cordell Cleare, who is currently serving her second term in the 30th state senate district, was not present at her office during the incident.
However, she was reportedly on a phone call with one of her staff members who was on-site when the man entered.
Cleare recounted the details of the incident, stating that the suspect demanded to see her and issued threats when his demands were not met.
“He said, ‘If I don’t get to see her, I’m going to shoot this office up, I’m going to bomb the place,’ and made other remarks along those lines,” Cleare told reporters.
The suspect also made references to political topics, mentioning President-elect Donald Trump and claiming, “things are going to change now.”
Cleare revealed that the man made derogatory comments about President Biden and Vice President Harris during the confrontation.
In response to the threats, the state legislature’s Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic, and Asian Caucus released a statement condemning the incident. The caucus emphasized the importance of maintaining a peaceful public dialogue, regardless of political differences.
“Regardless of political affiliation or preferred candidates, there is absolutely no room for threats or violence in our public discourse,” the statement read.
“It is incumbent upon every leader, who holds a federal or local office, to set a positive example for all constituents by promoting respectful dialogue and fostering a culture of nonviolence.”
The incident has sparked concerns about the safety of public officials and their staff. While investigations continue, the arrest of Vadim Dergachev has brought attention to the increasing tensions surrounding political discourse.
