Justice Served: Rensselaer Man Sentenced for Rape and Murder of Toddler!
The 34-year-old Rensselaer man Robert Fisher was given a 20-year to life term on Tuesday by the Rensselaer County District Attorney’s Office for raping and killing a child in 2023. In July, Fisher admitted the crime.
Fisher stated that while he was babysitting Josefina “Josie” Cunningham at her home in Rensselaer, he gave her drugs, raped her, and killed her. It was brought against him in July 2023 for second-degree murder and first-degree rape.
The person who killed Josie knew her mother and had been given care of Josie by her mother. The district attorney, Mary Pat Donnelly, said that Josie died of murder after being sexually assaulted and becoming very drunk from the combination of alprazolam and olanzapine. It’s a small town called Rensselaer. Through this terrible accident that no one will soon forget, everyone has helped and cared for each other.
According to Donnelly, Fisher may have had more victims because of the crimes he committed. The lawmaker also asked anyone who knows Robert Fisher or has interacted with him to investigate the possibility that he may have been involved in other crimes.
While he was out on parole in 2021 for attempted theft, Mary Ann Moses said she had known the Fisher family for decades and offered him a short-term place to live.
“In the hopes that he was on the right track, I let him live with my family and me.” He said, “I didn’t know a lot of things.”
She says Fisher was doing something wrong in her home when she saw him cornering a child. That same day, he was taken away from her home after she called the police right away.
Moses said, ” He caused me problems when he was in my house, so I talked to the sheriff’s office in Schoharie about it.” According to the Schoharie County Sheriff’s Office, which NEWS10 called, Fisher does not have any criminal records. Moses repeated Donnelly’s call for people to come forward.

“I didn’t realize this was a dangerous place for my kids until right before he left.” These women are probably out there, too. If they know that this man was also with their children, I hope they come forward. It could have been any of their children, Moses said.
