Tragic Nightclub Incident in Buffalo: Shooter Sentenced After Killing One, Injuring Two!

A Buffalo man, Sharief McBroom, was sentenced on Tuesday for a shooting that happened last year at Club Marcella in Buffalo, as announced by the Erie County District Attorney’s Office.

The shooting, which took place around 2:30 a.m. on February 12, resulted in the death of 21-year-old Jorge Garcia Leon and left two others injured.

Authorities reported that McBroom, also 21, intentionally fired several shots at Leon inside the nightclub, located on the 100 block of Michigan Avenue.

Unfortunately, Leon died at the scene. The two other victims, a 49-year-old man, and a 59-year-old man suffered injuries from the gunfire and were rushed to the hospital by ambulance.

“This was a completely senseless act of violence,” stated Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael Keane.

“The defendant snuck an illegal firearm into the club and opened fire after a minor altercation.

We are taking a tough approach against gun violence, which is why no reduced plea was offered.”

McBroom received a sentence of 22 years to life in prison. Initially, he faced up to 50 years to life.

In July 2024, McBroom pleaded guilty to charges including one count of second-degree murder, two counts of second-degree attempted murder, and one count of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Following the sentencing, Leon’s sister, Samantha Goodwin, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Club Marcella. She argues that the club was negligent for allowing a firearm inside, which ultimately led to her brother’s death.

In her lawsuit, Goodwin claims that the club acted “carelessly” and “recklessly” by failing to prevent a weapon from entering the venue.

Additionally, Goodwin believes that the bar should have stopped serving McBroom alcohol when he appeared intoxicated, as this could have prevented the tragic event.
