3 New Jersey men are sentenced in a handmade gun sale case

Federal prison time has been imposed on three men who oversaw a manufactured firearms sales enterprise.

According to investigators, the three were involved in the production and sale of handcrafted firearms, sometimes known as “ghost guns,” in the counties of Passaic and Hudson.

According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office District of New Jersey, Corey Jenkins Jr., 31, of Paterson, was sentenced on Monday to seven years and three months in prison as well as an additional three years of supervised release.

Prior sentences were given to Savion Clyburn, 21, of Paterson, and Richard Mullane, 27, of Bayonne. Authorities sentenced Clyburn to five years and three years of supervised release and Mullane to six years + five years.

In December 2022, federal agents began looking into a network of gun sales in Paterson and Bayonne. Subsequently, federal prosecutors said that the authorities made controlled purchases from the organization and retrieved over a dozen illicit firearms.

On January 30, 2023, while carrying out search warrants, law officers discovered 600 pictures of child pornography on Mullane’s electronic devices in addition to seizing more guns, according to officials.

The three men have entered guilty pleas to the charges of conspiring to trade weapons without a license and actually dealing firearms without a license. In addition, Mullane entered a guilty plea for possessing child pornography, and Jenkins entered a guilty plea for having ammunition owned by a convicted felon.
