Oakland Woman Caught with Stolen Goods and Drugs in Livermore Traffic Stop!
Livermore, CA – Livermore police arrested a 64-year-old Oakland woman early Friday morning after a traffic stop led to the discovery of narcotics, stolen property, and a firearm in her vehicle.
The arrest occurred just before 3:30 a.m. when officers pulled over Maria Shields, who was driving a Chrysler Crossfire near the intersection of North Vasco and Northfront roads. Shields was stopped for allegedly operating the vehicle without a valid registration.
Upon conducting a routine check, officers discovered that Shields had an outstanding warrant from Alameda County, prompting a search of her vehicle.
According to police, the search uncovered methamphetamine, a firearm, a stolen license plate, and multiple items of suspected stolen mail and personal identification.
Shields was taken into custody on charges related to drug possession, possession of stolen property, and unauthorized possession of a firearm. She was then booked into Santa Rita Jail.
This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding theft and narcotics distribution in the Bay Area. Law enforcement officials emphasized the importance of routine traffic stops in identifying individuals with outstanding warrants and intercepting illegal substances and stolen property.
Livermore police are expected to conduct further investigations to determine whether the seized items are linked to other recent thefts in the region.
Shields’ case will be handled by the Alameda County court system. No additional information on her court date or potential bail was immediately available.
Livermore police have encouraged the public to report any suspicious activity to assist in combating theft and drug-related crime in the area.
