15-Year-Old Boy Shot at Bronx Subway Station as NYC Faces Surge in Youth Violence!
A 15-year-old boy was shot late Saturday night at a Bronx subway station, marking yet another instance of rising youth violence in New York City. The incident occurred around 10 p.m. on the mezzanine level of the subway station at River Avenue and West 167th Street, according to an NYPD spokesperson.
Police confirmed the teenager suffered a gunshot wound to his leg. Officers arrested 20-year-old David Ayenengoye at the scene. This tragic event is just one in a series of violent incidents involving young people across the city. On Thursday, a 14-year-old boy was stabbed during a daytime fight with another teen. The victim was taken to Brookdale University Hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
Earlier in the week, youth violence struck Staten Island when a 14-year-old boy was stabbed, allegedly by a 13-year-old. The incident adds to a growing list of disturbing cases involving minors.
On Monday evening, a 16-year-old boy was shot in the left foot near East 176th Street and Webster Avenue in the Tremont neighborhood of the Bronx. The shooting occurred just minutes before 8 p.m., according to police.
Another incident early Monday morning involved a 16-year-old boy in Flatbush, Brooklyn, who was shot in the leg at Avenue D and Troy Avenue. The teenager managed to run home, where his mother called 911. He was later transported to Maimonides Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
