New Rochelle, NY – A 17-year-old male has been arrested in connection with an attempted armed robbery in New Rochelle. The incident occurred on Wednesday, October 9, when the teen reportedly approached a 66-year-old woman on Franklin Avenue around 7 p.m., demanding her belongings while brandishing a silver handgun.
The woman began screaming, which led the suspect to flee toward the nearby Harbor House apartment building. Fortunately, she was unharmed and managed to retain her belongings.
New Rochelle Police launched an investigation, which resulted in the teen’s arrest on Thursday, October 17.
According to New Rochelle Police Captain J. Collins Coyne, the teenager, whose identity remains undisclosed due to his age, has been charged with first-degree robbery and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Authorities have yet to release further details about the case.
