A Man in New York Was Taken Into Custody for Pursuing His Ex-Girlfriend!

A 51-year-old man from New York, Umardeo Roopnarine, was arrested late last night and is facing charges of stalking and burglary. Roopnarine was apprehended after he allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend’s house and was found hiding in a child’s room.

The incident unfolded in Alachua, Florida, where the victim had relocated to escape Roopnarine. According to the Alachua Police Department, the woman reported that Roopnarine had followed her from New York to Florida. She initially allowed him to stay briefly in her new home, but she soon decided she no longer wanted him there.

The situation took a frightening turn when the victim recounted a previous incident to the police. She claimed that she had woken up one night to find Roopnarine holding a knife.

During this terrifying encounter, Roopnarine allegedly threatened her, stating that if he couldn’t have her, he would kill both her and himself. This left the victim in fear for her life.

On August 21, the police responded to the victim’s home after she reported Roopnarine’s presence. Although the officers did not find him inside the house, they noticed his car parked nearby. Shortly after, Roopnarine was spotted walking out of the victim’s driveway.

When confronted, he denied the allegations of threatening the victim. Roopnarine also claimed that he and the victim had moved to Florida together and offered to leave the house, return to New York, and give up his residency at the victim’s property.

Despite this, the officers issued a trespass warning, which Roopnarine acknowledged before leaving. The situation escalated the next day, on August 22, when the victim returned home with some friends after spending the night elsewhere. Upon searching the house, they found Roopnarine hiding in the corner of a child’s room.

When the victim discovered him, he signaled her to remain quiet by placing a finger over his lips. Frightened, she quickly left the room and informed her friends, who then attempted to distract Roopnarine while she contacted the authorities.

After his arrest, Roopnarine admitted to the police that he had entered the house through a locked rear door. He claimed that he had only come to the house the previous night to take a shower and rest, even though he was fully aware that he was not allowed on the property.

Roopnarine is now facing charges of burglary, stalking, and trespassing after being warned. During his court appearance, he informed the court that he had been in the area for two weeks.
