A Schenectady man was arrested for fleeing the law and drugs

On Wednesday, a man from Schenectady tried to elude police and was taken into custody on suspicion of cocaine possession. Police said that 53-year-old Ricky Rickson was charged with both illegally escaping a police officer and having criminal possession of a controlled narcotic.

Charges

  1. Two charges of illegal possession of a controlled drug in the fourth degree
  2. Criminal possession of a controlled drug in the fifth degree
  3. Criminal possession of a controlled drug in the seventh degree
  4. Third-degree illegally driving away from a police officer

A vehicle was stopped by state police on Broadway in Schenectady; however, as the officer approached, the vehicle sped away. According to the police, they tracked the vehicle until they were unable to locate it.

On Olean Street, where Rickson was taken into custody, the police discovered the vehicle.

During the process of transporting Rickson to the State Police barracks in Latham, the officers discovered that Rickson was in possession of narcotics of a criminal weight as well as additional drugs.

In the Schenectady County Court, he was arraigned, and the judge ordered him to remain in the Schenectady County Jail without providing bail.
