A Young mother’s burnt body was discovered on a Southern California freeway; clues are being sought

The unsolved murder of a young mother, whose body was discovered engulfed in flames on a Southern California road, has left a suspect at large.

Karla Terron, 27, was discovered dead on the Hosking Avenue off-ramp of the southbound 99 Freeway in Bakersfield on December 17, 2022, at approximately five in the morning.

Terron had met with friends at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3834 in San Fernando the evening before she was killed.

She afterwards proceeded to a San Fernando residence, where she was killed. Authorities surmise that her body was driven to Bakersfield in the trunk of a white 2021 Honda CRV.

Her multiple stab wounds were the cause of her death, according to an autopsy. Authorities think the suspect set fire to Terron’s corpse in an effort to obliterate evidence.

Terron was a San Fernando resident and the mother of two small children, ages eight and ten. She was a waitress at a local restaurant.

At a press conference on Thursday, LASD Lt. Michael Modica stated, “She was not affiliated with any kind of gang.” “She was an honorable and virtuous citizen.”

Around the time of the occurrence, there were reports to the investigators that a gunshot was heard in the vicinity of Knox Street.

Terron’s mobile phone is still absent. The owner of the Honda CRV was not disclosed by officials, but Modica stated, “We definitely have people of interest we are looking into.”

For assistance with the investigation, detectives are requesting the public. It is requested that anyone who saw the suspect’s car on Knox Street or close to the VFW Bar between December 16, 2022, late at night and early the next morning, December 17, 2022, contact the police.

It is also advised that anyone who discovered a cell phone in the San Fernando area or heard gunfire that evening in the Knox Street neighborhood get in touch with LASD.

“We’re hoping that people will have the guts to speak up,” Modica stated.

According to Modica, Terron’s family members are still “devastated they lost a family member and a mother and it’s been very hard on them.”
