Albany Man Arrested After Lark Street Stabbing Incident!
A 39-year-old Albany man, Shameek Thomas, was arrested early Thursday morning in connection with a stabbing on Lark Street that left a 42-year-old man injured.
The incident occurred outside Café Hollywood, drawing a swift response from police officers patrolling the area.
The altercation unfolded around 1:15 a.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2024, when an Albany police officer observed a fight outside the popular Lark Street venue.
According to police reports, the officer noticed a physical dispute involving Thomas and another individual. During the incident, a third party, a 42-year-old man, attempted to intervene but was stabbed in the neck.
Officers at the scene immediately apprehended Thomas, who was allegedly found holding a knife.
Emergency personnel arrived quickly to provide medical attention to the victim, who was transported to Albany Medical Center. Police have since reported that the victim is in stable condition.
An investigation revealed that Thomas had been engaged in a dispute with another person when the victim, reportedly attempting to de-escalate the situation, approached the two.
Thomas allegedly turned towards the victim and struck him with the knife, causing the neck wound.
Following his arrest, Thomas was charged with third-degree assault, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
He was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court later that day and subsequently remanded to the Albany County Jail.
