Arlington Police Arrest Former Unity Council Member Ronald Goines on Sexual Assault Charges

Earlier this week, the Arlington Police Department announced that a man named Ronald Goines had been taken into custody by law enforcement in connection with an ongoing investigation into sexual assault.

After the Sex Crimes Unit of the police department acquired two warrants for Goines’ arrest, one for indecent assault and another for sexual assault, the police said that Goines, who is 51 years old, turned himself in at the Tarrant County Jail on Thursday.

In the month of June, a woman informed the police department that she had filed a report on Goines. According to the police, the filing of criminal charges against Goines was a direct result of the investigation that was prompted by the report.

The department noted that Goines had previously served on the Unity Council of the City of Arlington and that he was also a past member of the Clergy and Police Partnership Program (ACAPP) of the Arlington Police Department. This information was communicated to the public in conjunction with the announcement of his arrest.

In the words of the Atlanta Police Department, ACAPP is “a volunteer group made up of local leaders of faith-based organizations here in town.” The Atlanta Police Department has stated that members of the ACAPP will occasionally participate as actors in training sessions or visit stations to pray over and support officers.

Goines is also the one who established the Koinonia church in Arlington and currently serves as its main pastor. We have attempted to contact the church for a remark; but, they have not yet responded to our inquiry.
