Authorities Report: Valatie Man Charged with First-Degree Rape and Threats in Ballston Incident
The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office has reported the arrest of Shane A. Morris, a 29-year-old from Valatie, for a serious incident that occurred on November 8 in the Town of Ballston. Authorities say Morris was involved in an alleged sexual assault incident where he is accused of engaging in forced sexual contact with another person.
In addition to this charge, officials state that Morris violated a court order by threatening the protected person. According to the report, he allegedly displayed a baseball bat, causing the person to feel an immediate threat of harm, including possible physical injury, serious injury, or even death.
According to the source, Law enforcement was notified of the incident when a complaint was filed on Westside Drive at around 10:36 a.m. Shortly after, the Sheriff’s Office responded and arrested Morris.
Following his arrest, Morris was charged with several offences, including first-degree rape, first-degree criminal contempt, and second-degree menacing.
After being processed, Morris was taken to Malta Town Court, where he was formally charged and remanded to the Saratoga County Jail. He is being held in lieu of bail, bond, or partially-secured bond as the case continues through the legal system.
