Breaking: Albany Drug Dealer Gets 10-Year Sentence for Cocaine and Marijuana Trafficking!
ALBANY, NY – Brian Scott, a 44-year-old man from Albany, was sentenced to 120 months, or 10 years, in federal prison on December 9, 2024, for his role in a major drug trafficking operation.
Scott was also given five years of supervised release after his prison term. The sentencing took place in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York, following his guilty pleas to multiple charges.
Scott had previously admitted to being part of a conspiracy to distribute large amounts of cocaine and marijuana, specifically over 5 kilograms of cocaine and more than 100 kilograms of marijuana.
His actions took place from June 2020 to October 2023, and he was a key player in trafficking drugs throughout Albany and the Northern District of New York.
According to U.S. Attorney Carla B. Freedman, Scott worked with others to send drug couriers between the Capital Region and the North Country, moving cocaine to the North Country and marijuana back to Albany. The drug network was active for several years and moved substantial quantities of illegal drugs.
In court, Scott also admitted to personally trafficking at least 7 kilograms of cocaine, which he obtained from one of his co-conspirators. He further confessed to selling over 400 grams of cocaine to another individual.
As part of his plea deal, Scott agreed to forfeit $4,865 in seized cash, and he was ordered to pay a $17,180 judgment as well.
His sentencing sends a strong message about the consequences of participating in large-scale drug trafficking operations.
