Breaking: Albany Man Crashes into CDTA Bus in High-Stakes Police Chase!
A 21-year-old man from Albany was taken into custody on Tuesday after a high-speed police chase that led to a series of crashes, including a collision with a CDTA bus and other vehicles, according to authorities.
The incident began in Watervliet when a local police officer noticed a vehicle with stolen license plates and attempted to pull it over.
Initially, the driver complied by pulling over to the side of the road, but shortly after, he sped away, driving recklessly and putting public safety at risk. The officer then initiated a pursuit.
Due to increasing safety concerns, the Watervliet Police Department decided to halt the chase, allowing the vehicle to continue unmonitored as it headed into the neighboring city of Troy.
According to police reports, the driver continued at a high speed and eventually collided with multiple occupied vehicles, including a Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) bus, before finally coming to a stop at the intersection of Federal Street and 6th Avenue in Troy.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the passengers on the bus, the occupants of the other vehicles, or bystanders, officials said.
Following the crashes, police apprehended the driver at the scene. Although the suspect faces numerous charges related to the chase and subsequent collisions, law enforcement has not released his identity as of yet.
This incident highlights the dangers of reckless driving and high-speed pursuits within city limits.
