Breaking: Milton Father Guilty in Shocking Infant Assault Case!

In a recent court decision, a Milton man has been found guilty of assaulting his 3-month-old son, resulting in severe injuries that required extensive medical care.

Jacob Krall, 21, was convicted on charges of assault and endangering the welfare of a child following a two-week trial in Saratoga County. A separate count of endangering the welfare of a child was dismissed.

The incident, which took place on March 19, 2023, involved Krall allegedly inflicting a severe head injury on his infant son while the child was in his care.

During the trial, prosecutors stated that a CT scan revealed the baby had sustained a subdural hematoma, internal bleeding, and ruptured blood vessels in his eyes and cheeks, injuries which required over a week of hospitalization.

The prosecution, led by Special Victims Bureau Chief Jennifer Buckley, acknowledged that they could not specify exactly how the injuries were caused.

However, Buckley presented evidence of damage to the walls and door of Krall’s bedroom, where he cared for the infant. Additionally, investigators reported finding marijuana, a vape pen, and traces of marijuana in the baby’s bassinet.

Saratoga County District Attorney Karen Heggen highlighted the extensive effort behind the prosecution’s case, which included over 100 pieces of evidence and testimony from 16 witnesses.

Medical experts, including four treating physicians and a forensic nurse examiner, provided crucial insight into the nature of the injuries.

“Bureau Chief Buckley meticulously presented the complex medical and physical evidence to the jury, which demonstrated that Defendant Krall had caused physical injuries, including bilateral subdural hematomas and bilateral retinal hemorrhages to the three-month-old victim,” Heggen stated.

The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office investigation further substantiated that Krall was responsible for the infant’s injuries.

Krall’s defense attorney, Joe Hammer, argued that his client had acted out of concern for his son, claiming Krall had performed CPR when he found the infant not breathing. Hammer also emphasized the lack of direct evidence linking Krall to the injuries.

Krall is scheduled for sentencing on December 19, where he faces a potential maximum sentence of seven years in prison.
